Topic info: Rachel grew up in the Bible Belt, learning what a terrific God she had from her Sunday School Bible Stories. In her twenties, Rachel found a lot of Bible Stories, she hadn’t learned in Sunday School; like how God had the Israelites destroy all the women and children in the village after they had defeated the men in battle. There were other stories too that didn’t fit the God she had grown to love as a child. In INSPIRED, Held Evans shows us to relook at the Bible; how to see it’s flaws, beauty, strength and spirit at the same time.

Topic info: Join us as we continue our study of Thessalonians 1 and 2. Paul wrote 1Thessalonians to encourage the Christians in Thessalonica who were making good progress in their new faith. Second, he desired to correct misinformation about himself and his fellow missionaries that some of his critics in Thessalonica were circulating. Third, he wrote to give additional instruction that would contribute to the Thessalonians’ spiritual growth. Paul wrote 2 Thessalonians to commend his children in the faith for their growth and faithfulness, to correct the doctrinal error about the day of the Lord, and to warn the idle to get back to work.

About this group: FPLC members gather from around the Milwaukee area for monthly Christian fellowship over lunch. Join us for a mid-day spiritual renewal as we begin a new series in March, using the book "Devotional Classics" by Foster and Smith. Each month we will be introduced to a different Christian author, read excerpts of their works with related scripture, and follow with guided discussion. All are welcome—and feel free to bring a friend. No prep is required—just you!
